HYSELL BALLET ARTS

Hysell Ballet Arts focuses on classical ballet training and choreography at the highest technical and artistic level. Our goal is to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of ballet and keep dancers of all ages creating and performing.
HISTORY
Founded by Harvey Hysell
Since 1982, Hysell Ballet Arts has helped dance take its rightful place within the arts community of New Orleans. Hysell Ballet Arts mission is to further the Art of Dance to serve as an instrument of education by enlightening and directing youths in the pursuit of the Arts, and to offer an opportunity for advanced dancers interested in professional careers to continue their work experience.

TUESDAYS
4:15 - 5:00 Level I (6-8)
5:00 - 6:00 Level II (8-12)
6:00 - 7:00 Level III (13+)
Level I will provide a structured approach to ballet. Emphasis will be placed on vocabulary, placement, musicality, and strengthening of the core, legs, and feet.

For Level II and up emphasis will be placed on the progression of exercises at an intermediate – advance level both at the barre and during floor work. Instruction will focus on core work, body alignment, flexibility, and musicality.
FRIDAY
4:30 - 5:30 Level II / III
Pre-Pointe / Pointe will offer dancers a chance to work on strengthening the feet, ankles, and legs in preparation for pointe work. Those that are already on pointe will work on proper placement and advancement.
SATURDAYS
9:00 - 9:45 Free to Be Me (3-4 yrs)

Free to Be Me with Ballet will be a creative movement class. Emphasis will be placed on teaching basic coordination and musicality.
​
*Placement into each class is determined by the Instructor.
